Many in the mixed martial arts community feel that Lyoto Machida’s unanimous decision victory over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua is the most controversial decision in the history of the Ultimate Fighting Championships. “Shogun won every round. I can’t figure out how they awarded that decision to Machida” says Richie “The Bull” Giametta veteran mma trainer and owner and manager of Capo Wrestling and MMA Academy in Columbia, South Carolina. “Your always at risk when you let a fight go to the judges. I could see maybe a couple of the judges giving Machida one round at the most but all three judges awarding Machida a 3-2 split? It doesn’t make any sense to me” says American Combat Association President Matt Granahan. The judges decision was met with a swarm of boos and this isn’t the first time that the UFC’s fans have booed at the main event of a major pay per view event. At the epic UFC 100 Brock Lesnar was met with boos after his dominating victory over Frank Mir and Brock responded with a two finger wave to the crowd. We want to know what you think about this decision and whether you feel Shogun deserves a rematch before anyone else can vie for the title.
